Category:Requests for unblock
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This category is used for administration of the Wikipedia project, and is not part of the encyclopedia. It contains pages which are not articles, or lists articles by status, rather than content. |
This category allows administrators to quickly locate users who have requested unblocking, whether they are suffering from collateral damage caused by another block, or they would like the original block placed against them removed or reduced. Users can add themselves to this category by placing the {{unblock}} template on their user talk page (which they can still edit while blocked, providing it is not protected).
Per Wikipedia:Blocking policy and Wikipedia:Appealing a block, administrators should not unblock users without discussing with the blocking admin except in cases where the block is clearly unjustified.
If you decide to unblock a user, please remove the {{unblock}}
tag. Depending on your response, you can replace it with the {{unblock reviewed}} or {{request accepted}} templates. Other useful template responses include {{autoblock}} and {{2nd chance}}. Other templates include {{unblock-auto}}/{{unblock-auto reviewed}} and {{unblock-un}}/{{unblock-un reviewed}} for autoblocks and username blocks, respectively.
Other resources include the unblock-en-l mailing list and #wikipedia-en-unblock IRC channel, both mentioned in the #External links section, below. The list of pages in this category is also on a bot-generated list at User:Cyde/List of requests for unblock.

[edit] May 2008
- Warning: User:Grawp has been creating 2MB long pages with a request for unblocking in attempt to to hang your web browser. Make sure you use Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups to check the page size before opening and salting. -- Netsnipe ► 05:17, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- As before, note that IE 7 can handle this page while Firefox will hang on that one. Daniel Case (talk) 13:41, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- Remember the keyboard shortcut ALT+SHIFT+D allows you to get to the delete this page screen without having to press the delete tab. Even if the shortcut doesn't work the first time press repeatedly and you will get to the screen just fine ;).¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 03:39, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Or, if you're awesome like me, just use this url form; http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=pagetitle&action=delete. Say you see that the talk page is bad; you could just use http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Master_of_Puppets&action=delete to go straight to the delete page and not have your browser hemorrhage.
