Talk:Republic of Maryland

The names given this area vary widely in historical accounts. I only corrected where I could easily cite a source, but "Maryland in Liberia," and simply "Maryland" are generally correct. I don't recall ever seeing original historical documents reference "Maryland-in-Africa." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.16.244.170 (talk) 05:45, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
While I'm at it, a source would be good for the contention that local tribes attacked the colonists due to interference in the slave trade. I've read nothing to suggest that these tribes were so engaged, only that the colony attempted to regulate trade in goods brought from the bush to the port at Harper. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.16.244.171 (talk) 06:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
