[edit] Grammar and Sentence Structure
I've noticed a number of syntax and grammatic errors in this and other Bleach articles, and I'd consider revising them, since some are quite hard to follow. I've done a bit of editing in this article, and will continue to do as much as I can for this and others, but I won't be able to do it all by myself. Please consider grammatical conventions and use proper sentence structure when posting. -- Tvs117 —Preceding comment was added at 13:05, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Resolve/Respect
By request.
My opinion is to drop it. It is not an essential, or even significant, part of Renji's character. Now if it was the Byakuya article, that would be different. Also, the paragraph in question has a rather odd sound to it in the current form. In short, Byakuya's opinion of Renji belongs in Byakuya's article, while Renji's opinion of Byakuya belongs in Renji's article.--Tjstrf 00:01, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
You have a point, however, I think it's important to note Renji's resolve in this article (but not necessarily Byakuya's respect for it, although they kind of go together). I mean, isn't the will to die for something a character stands for a pretty important trait? I guess since this actually applies to most characters in Bleach, but it hasn't been exemplified this much for anyone other than Ichigo and Renji (hence the manga page where they say TAMASHII NI DA!!! together). I guess it can go to Character outline though, but can't think of a way to properly word it at the moment. Any ideas? -- Ynhockey 02:14, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
The "I swore to my soul" panels? I think it is generally assumed that every good character in the entire series is probably willing to die for what they stand for, along with most of the bad ones. I suppose you're right about it being a notable feature of his character. I'm adding a line to his character outline. Is that sufficient for you? --Tjstrf 05:51, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
Of course. -- Ynhockey 11:06, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Hair Color
This has been changed several times now, and though its not integral to the article, i'd like to reach some kind of understanding.
I think that Renji's hair is somewhere between Carnation and Hot Pink, but i'll leave it to someone else to decide. It is DEFINETLY not Magenta.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Shades_of_pink
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magenta
We have a category shades of Pink? Wow. I gave the colour as magenta based on the more subtle version of magenta you might see in clothing, but I guess we could always get technical if we wanted to. According to Photoshop, and based on those pictures in the article, Renji's hair is the following major shades:
C64C61 (Hue: 350)
D16171 (Hue: 351)
EB8F9A (Hue: 353)
The official shades for pink are as follows:
Pink itself is FFC0CB (Hue: 350)
Carnation is F95A61 (Hue: 357)
Magenta is FF00FF or FF0090 (Hue: 300 or 326)
Hot Pink is FC0FC0 (Hue: 315)
Fuschia is FF00FF or F400A1 (Hue: 300 or 320)
Salmon is FF9999 (Hue: 0/360)
His hair is obviously not just Pink, nor is it the other closest match, Pale Pink (Hue: 254). We could call it carnation, but carnation looks more orange where Renji's hair is more purple. The closest bright colours to his hair by Hue are Crimson, (Hue: 348) and Alizarin Crimson (Hue: 355). I nominate his hair as being Light Crimson. (DC637B, compare with the middle shade of his hair I listed earlier, it's almost identical.) --Tjstrf 09:15, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Fair enough, Light Crimson it is.
- I don't think it's important what colour we agree on, but yes we should agree on one. But it doesn't matter that much if it's red or light crimson. IMO anyway. -- Ynhockey 13:25, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- As long as it's "red", I don't believe the exact shade is important. IceUnshattered (talk) 21:05, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Manga 'screenshot'
I don't know whether such a screenshot qualifies as fair use, seing as it's almost a full panel, but just to be sure, I think it should be replaced with a screenshot from the anime. -- Y Ynhockey || Talk Y 08:07, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Zabimaru
While it may or may not be official (Studio Pierrot has a link to its site at the bottom right) http://www.bleach-fan.jp/ on the front has Renji saying "Bark, Zabimaru" as his shi kai call, as opposed to "Howl, Zabimaru" as heard and fansubbed in Japanese. --Geopgeop 14:02, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah well it also says, I'm Ichigo Kurosaki. I'll beat up you. I don't think it should be taken too seriously. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 10:08, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
This might deserve a note but remember when renji reveals his bankai to byakuya he calls it with out a command like roar or howl.I would like to link it to hanatoro's page because they bothin teh series can activate their shikai without a commandEvxyza92 04:04, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not exceptional. Everyone can do that once they're bankai capable, most just don't because then we would never learn their sword's name. (Hanataro is a special case due to the nature of his sword.) Ichigo can even bypass the release ritual for his bankai. --tjstrf talk 04:19, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, considering that Byakuya mentions that it's somewhat out of the ordinary, I'm going to have to call BS on that "not exceptional" thing. --Cronodude360 08:15, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hitsugaya does it all the time. Practically every time he releases his sword, he waits until after the chain blade has formed to call out its name. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 19:18, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Okay , but can reference me to someone else that did besides renji or hanataorh because it would just clear it up for me. Thank you.Evxyza92 06:15, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- Byakuya actually states that he is surprised that Renji can release his sword without a command, because he did not know Renji was anywhere near Bankai capable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.153.104.6 (talk) 20:30, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Lieutenant promotion
I may have missed it, but where was it stated that Renji became a lieutenant when Rukia went missing in the human world? I never remember reading that. Please source, thanks. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 11:43, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- When Rukia is in the jail cell for the first time, she says ends all her sentences at first with lieutenant and he replies if there is a problem with that, in the anime. -Episode 18
- In the manga she says "I'm not hungry, its as simple as that, lieutenant-dono." Renji replies "Ehh? Whats your problem? Do you have something against me being lieutenant?" Rukia replies "No not really. I was just impressed, you must have worked pretty hard to move up the food chain in the months that I was gone." -Chapter 59 Page 6 http://www.bleachexile.com/bleach-online/details.php?image_id=1244&sessionid=6b79eb6f4e9c50e6cd0845f343d92af0
- The only thing I don't know is if he joined 6th division when he became lieutenant or before that.Gdo01 14:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- It happens in the omake chapter in the VIBEs guidebook. It tells the events which occur right before Rukia leaves for the human world, which also includes Hinamori and Kira telling Renji that he's been promoted to lieutenant of the 6th Division and Renji's reaction. This chapter also says that Renji is still in the 11th Division as the 6th Seat prior to promotion.
Yn, here are the pages. These are included in Vol. 23 as side stories. The page number are 191 and 193 respectively.
Promotion from 6th Seat of 11th Division to lieutenant of 6th Division
In the video episodes in 109 it sais that he is being promoted to Vice Captain when Rukia first leaves. He also introduced himself as Vice a few times as well during other episodes, including to Ichigo I believe.

[edit] Shikai picture
There should be a picture of him with Zabimaru in Shikai form.Ultimaterasengan 17:45, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Main character?
Just wondering if you guys think Renji should be placed as a main character. He's undeniably one of the most important shinigami in terms of plot and is seen along with the other main characters in artwork more than anyone else that I know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.127.52.60 (talk) 03:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
