I'm curious, but does anyone know why Czechoslovakia was not represented amongst NHLers? It would make sense that Quebec's best player at the time, Peter Stastny (who was a Canadian citizen), would play in front on his home crowd. Yankees76

Since he defected to Canada in 1980 he might have been afraid that the soviet players would be extra tough on him. Maybe it was a silent agreament, between NHL and the soviets, that they (the russians) wouldn't come if they had to face a defectee on the ice. But that's just my personal thoughts...I can't back it up. - Stealth

I have assessed this as Start Class, as it contains more detail and organization than would be expected of a Stub (although it requires more referencing and in-line citations), and of low importance, as it is a highly specific event within Canada. Cheers, CP 16:10, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
