Rene Farrait (born November 2, 1967) is a former member of the teen band Menudo. He was a member during the band's most successful period.
Farrait played the bad boy of the band, and he played the part well, owning a bike and being the one Menudo member with the most girlfriends in real life.
Rene's trademark song was the hit Subete a mi Moto. (Come Up Get On My Bike).
After leaving the band, Rene became a solo singer and made a few albums.
In 1987, Rene Farrait reunited with former Menudo bandmates Xavier Serbia and Johnny Lozada and formed a trio called: Proyecto M. Following the success of their debut album (Proyecto M (1987)), Xavier left the group and was replaced (again, same as when he left in Menudo) by Ray Reyes. This new line-up went on to record three more albums together, but disbanded in 1993. However, between 1987-1993 they were very popular in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Venezuela, and acted in a few soap operas.
Farrait married Leyda Barreto in the 1990s and joined his former bandmates for a comeback tour named El Reencuentro. It was named like that because they couldn't use the name Menudo due to legal issues.
Rene faced health troubles in the early 2000s, but he recuperated.
In 2005, El Reencuentro returned for a one concert engagement in Puerto Rico. Farrait was once again involved in the musical project, but he survived a motorcycle accident that left him with 20 stitches on his jaw just days before the concert.
As an entertainer, Rene loves contact with his public and is always available to sign autographs, take pictures and talk with his fans about his period in Menudo.
