Renaissance Trains

Renaissance Trains was formed in 1997 with the purpose of promoting and investing in "open access" passenger and freight rail businesses, as well as promoting and investing in rail industry innovation. Its shareholders are John Nelson, Peter Wilkinson, Mike Jones and Mary Bonar. It is based in York [1] in the United Kingdom.
Two shareholders - Mike Jones and John Nelson - of Renaissance formed Hull Trains with GB Railways and took a 10% stake each. First took over GB Railways, but Mike Jones and John Nelson continue to hold their stakes.

Below are a list of companies that are currently proposed or have been started by Renaissance Trains:
- First Hull Trains - trains between London and Hull in conjunction with First.
- Wrexham & Shropshire - trains between London and Wrexham. Joint venture between Renaissance and Laing Rail,[2] who have now been bought by DB Regio.[3]
- Humber Coast & City Railway - proposed [4]. Services will run between Cleethorpes and Lincoln and Stratford in London via Peterborough.
- Glasgow Trains - proposed [5]. A service may run between Glasgow and Blackpool, Liverpool and Nottingham.
- First Harrogate Trains - proposed [6]. A service in conjunction with First, as per Hull Trains, between Harrogate and London.
