Rena Silverman (b. 1985) is an American author, freelance journalist [1] [2] [3] and a political speech writer.[4] She has written a collection of essays entitled Who Pulled the Rug?[5] She has also written the article, "I Can't Get Through July Without My..." for Marie Claire Magazine's July, 2007 issue.[6]

Rena went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts where she was a drama major. As a child, in 1996, Rena played Aurea in Paul Simon's broadway show, the Capeman with Marc Anthony and Ruben Blades. Though she did not continue acting in college, she found her passion in writing.

In addition to her feature in Marie Claire magazine, Silverman's work has been published in the Green and Gold Online newspaper, the New England Journal of Medicine and TIME.

Silverman worked for ABC News in 2003[7], with John Stossel, where she aided in the production of the segment, "Help Me! I Can't Help Myself"[8] and was later thanked by Mr. Stossel on Page 287 for her support in his book, Give Me a Break: How I Exposed Hucksters, Cheats, and Scam Artists and Became the Scourge of the Liberal Media...[9]

A year later, Rena worked for Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education, where she contributed to the "Window on the Work" publication of "Gorilla My Love." [10]

She is currently working on a collection of poetry, and a medical reference book. She also is an eating disorders activist and supporter of better care for those without funds for mental health counseling.

In addition to creating and updating her own online blogosphere (including The Circle [11], The Square [12], The Oval[13], and Pocket Watch: I Tick Well [14]), Rena contributes to CNN's iReport [15], The A.C. [16], The Democratic Party Blog [17], and The Daily Kos [18].
