René Makondele (born 20 April 1982 in Kinshasa) is a Congolese football player at Swedish side Helsingborgs IF. He joined the club in August 2007 and thereby leaving Allsvenskan rivals Gefle IF.
Prior to playing for Gefle IF, he also played in Allsvenskan for Djurgårdens IF. Originally, he came to Sweden through an academy in his hometown Kinshasa and the club Kinshasa Star FC. Makondele is an offensive midfielder playing on either wing or as an attacker.
He scored a goal in his first Allsvenskan appearance for Helsingborgs IF, at home to his former club Djurgårdens IF.
With his current club Helsingborg has notable success in th UEFA CUP 2007/8 competion as the team won away against Galatasaray 3-2.
Makondele is one of the "high potentials" who are believed to move to a big european league soon. In summer german Bundesligateam Energie Cottbus wanted to sign Makondele. It failed on a to high transfer fee. Makondele has great passing and game build up qualities and unique technique and very fast.
