René, Marquis of Elbeuf

René of Guise,Marquis d'Elbeuf (August 14, 1536 – December 14, 1566) was the youngest son of Claude, Duke of Guise and Antoinette de Bourbon.
rené was born at Joinville, Haute-Marne. He married Louise de Rieux (1531 – c. 1570) on February 3, 1555. They had two children:
- Charles I, Duke of Elbeuf (1556–1605)
- Marie (August 21, 1555 – c. 1605), married at Joinville on November 10, 1576 Charles, Duke of Aumale
He served as French ambassador to Scotland, and accompanied his sister Mary of Guise on her entrance to that country in 1561. He was also a patron of the arts, particularly of composer Pierre Clereau of Lorraine.
