Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a denomination of the Latter Day Saint movement, created from a schism with the Community of Christ (formerly known by the name "Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints"), the movement's second largest denomination.

The Remnant Church considers itself to be a remnant of the church founded by Joseph Smith Jr. in 1830 and reorganized by his son Joseph Smith III in 1860. The Remnant Church was renewed and incorporated as a separate organization in 2000.

Members of the Remnant Church believe in the doctrine of lineal succession. The prophet of the Remnant Church, President Frederick Niels Larsen, is a direct descendant (maternal 2nd great-grandson) of Joseph Smith, Jr. The church has its headquarters near the Temple Lot, across from the Independence Temple and headquarters of the Community of Christ.

Members of this faith believe that the Bible, Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants are sacred and holy texts.
