[edit] Image

Added the Christian Cross image as a random representative image for religion in general. I am concerned that this is a POV edit. I would be very happy to find a more general religion-oriented image, but can't seem to think of one at the moment. If this is overly POV please feel free to revert to no image or to add a more generic one. -SocratesJedi | Talk 01:34, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

The edit has been rolled back for three reasons: (1) the use of one religion's symbol is inherently POV; (2) the iuse of icons for heavy-use templates is discouraged owing to problems with the servers (this is why many templates that formerly had images no longer do); (3) as it says at the top of Wikipedia:Template messages/Stubs and elsewhere, any change to or addition of icons should be cleared with Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting, since many of the icons have only been decided after a long debate to iron out any problems of neutrality. Neutrality is especially important for subjects like religion. Grutness|hello? 02:21, 7 May 2005 (UTC)
Ah okay. I didn't know there was a process. And yes, I agree with your POV concerns (although it's not my religion, but that doesn't mean it's not POV) which is why I wanted to discuss them here. The server issue makes a great deal of sense too. Apologies for neglecting the process. -SocratesJedi | Talk 03:03, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

What about Image:Circumpunct.png? It's an ancient symbol used by many cultures and faiths with a spiritual meaning, and it's probably more acceptable than that other common sun symbol.--Pharos 05:58, 28 October 2005 (UTC)
