Relate Institute

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Relate Institute is a department of Doncaster College providing courses at Higher Education, Further Education, and Continuous Professional Development level, in relationship studies. It is a collaborative project between Relate, Doncaster College, and the University of Hull. The Relate Institute opened in September 2006, and is the UK's first centre of excellence for the study of relationships.

The Higher Education Programmes, validated by the University of Hull, evolved from the model of couple counselling and training developed by Relate over 60 years.

The range of programmes offered by the Relate Institute enable the students to begin at entry-level, or to expand their knowledge of working with couples, families, and individuals with relationship issues or sexual problems.

Students go on to practice with Relate, other providers of relationship support services, or privately.

Programmes are delivered across the UK. The Relate Institute is based at Doncaster College's High Melton campus.

In February 2007, the Rt Hon Alan Johnson MP, Secretary of State for Education & Skills, delivered the Inaugural Lecture of the Relate Institute.
