This is written in Spanish. Is on his short story, "With Eyes Closed" or Con los Ojos Cerrados.

[edit] Cleanup needed

I have added a list of his works. And will get back and expand the rest of the article as I have time.Franklin Moore 04:32, 9 February 2006 (UTC) I did some major revisions of the text and tried to provide a bit more detail and references. The writings section needs to be expanded. If anyone is game, go for it. If not; I'll be back in a week and will expand upon it. Franklin Moore 05:14, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

I have added a new article Pentagonia which covers that collection of his writings, and will return to improve this article with a more detailed description of his other works. Franklin Moore 06:48, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photo

Does anyone have access to a photo of Arenas that can be uploaded? There is a jacket photo that appears on most of his novels, which I have, but I am unsure as to the copyright issues involved with it. So if anyone has a photo, or knows if such jacket photos are licensed for reproduction, let me know, or up laod it to the site. Thanks Franklin Moore 17:43, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Well I am gonna contact a friend of mine who is Cuban that show me once a picture of Reynaldo. I would try to find him soon.

[edit] Expansion

There needs to be more information about his ideological struggle with the Castroite bureaucracy installed at UNEAC-and subsequently, his inability to find work, an apartment, etc.-the reasons behind his persecution-which were only partially related to his unabashed homosexuality-and most importantly-and this is something that seems to be entirely absent from this article-his public confrontation with the Castro regime, especially after he was given asylum along with the Marielitos and began to speak out on American soil.
There also doesn't seem to be any discussion of the concerted effort among the literary community to ostracize him for his vehemently anti-Communist views, or his ambivalent attitude towards the United States. Or, for that matter, his strained relationship with former friends turned informers.
