[edit] A921 road

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article A921 road, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] GA review of Edinburgh congestion charge

I've reviewed the article and left notes on the talk page. I've put the nomination on hold for seven days to allow the issues to be addressed. Feel free to contact me on my talk page, here, or on the article talk page with any concerns, and let me know one of those places when the issues have been addressed. If I may suggest that you strike out, check mark, or otherwise mark the items I've detailed, that will make it possible for me to see what's been addressed, and you can keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be worked on.Ealdgyth | Talk 17:11, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Citing sources on road articles

I have just come across the A28 road article, on which I believe you have asked for sources to be cited. I just wonder where such sources might be found? I have edited several such articles in circumstances where I know the road so well, and then use the OS map, to have enough knowledge that the result is correct. Of course there are instances where there are reports (eg media) of blackspots or general holdups - I think particularly of the A21! - but where the road is simply described from Alpha to Omega, I cannot see what more can be done. I should havw thought that an article such as I am tackling at the moment - Hastings - needs such a nomination better. The only place I can see on the A28 article is where it says "plans for a northern link" - perhaps a "fact" entry would have been more appropriate at that point? [edit] Excessive use of "citation needed" template on Smallthorne article, etc?

Hello, since you have edited the Smallthorne article before, I wondered if you have an opinion on the tagging of almost every sentence in some sections of the article by this editor? Yesterday, I was in a similar situation with his tagging and Great Sankey where he tagged a swathe of sentences, and, after I supplied citations, tagged some more, and then changed the name of a section and asked me to provide more context. (Strange how I have had this happen from the same editor for a number of articles I have edited in the past, or are editing now.) I wonder whether this degree of tagging is actually counter-productive, since this one incident has made me reluctant to do work on wikipedia as it is so disheartening. Of course, I realise, as a scientist, that there is an enormous amount of work needed to get articles up to a minimum standard of referencing, but I think this can be taken as read, and that a simple note on the discussion pages of articles would not be so off-putting to people who only have a small amount of time trying to retrieve unreferenced articles (whereas it is very easy to give others a load of work by merely adding the citation needed templates.) Do you have any views about this?  DDStretch  (talk) 10:34, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Great Britain road numbering scheme

Hi Regan123, could you please elaborate this edit as to what the percentages correspond to? Thanks. --  Netsnipe  ►  14:33, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:Stavros1 and Norfolk roads problem

I refer to A148 road and A149 road: I notice you tagged one or both of the articles with the {{essay-like}} template; however the user in question has persisted in removing them when I have attempted to restore them to the article. I believe they are correctly used, as I do not think information in such elaborate prose form is conducive to an effective encyclopedia entry. He is very much risking a wp:3rr if he continues (and probably has violated it by now, anyway). Are you able assist/advise? I have written to him on his talk page, but he has merely deleted my comment and not provided a response. I can understand his frustration, but his behaviour is not in the spirit of the whole Wikipedia project. I personally believe he is being possessive of these articles (being from Norfolk) and immature with his "don't agree with your opinion so I'll ignore it" attitude. This is really beginning to wind me up, to be honest, but I'm trying to be calm and approaching this from a pragmatic view. I've flown off the handle in the past, and have got burnt, so I don't want to do anything silly now. But I can't see a way through: he will clearly not listen, but I'm pretty certain his views are not in keeping with the overall wikipedia ethos, so therefore something needs to happen.  — MapsMan talk | cont ] — 16:28, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
