[edit] Needs expanding

At the moment, this is just a dicdef, but I guess it could be an encyclopedia topic... -- Jmabel 08:06, 18 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Cowes - oldest regatta?

DenverG 12:53, 20 February 2007 (UTC) I see on this page that Cowes week is claimed to be the oldest running regatta in the world. The Gravesend regatta has been running since tudor times and the first definitive recorded date is 1698 which pre-dates cowes by 152 years. I cannot guarantee the authenticity of this, but the page at http://town.regatta.users.btopenworld.com/History.html mentions the history if the event which could possibly be confirmed by someone else.

[edit] Kapsejladsen

Any in favor for adding Kapsejladsen [www.kapsejladsen.com]

It's a very big deal at Aarhus Universitet, with 12.000 spectators attending the race.

It is ofcourse not a formal Regatta, as the race involved rowing from one shore to the other, drinking a beer, spinning around the bottle 10 times and rowing back. The teams consist of 5 sailors each.
