Regret Stakes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Regret Stakes is a Thoroughbred horse race for three year old fillies run on the turf at Churchill Downs in mid June at the end of the Spring Meet in Louisville, Kentucky. Set at one and one eighth mile (9 furlongs), the Grade III Regret offers a purse of $200,000 added.

The race is named after the great filly Regret, the first filly to win the Kentucky Derby. In the Blood-Horse magazine ranking of the top 100 U.S. thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century, she is #71 and in a poll among members of the American Trainers Association, she was voted the third greatest filly in American racing history. Gallorette was voted first.

It will be in its 39th running in 2008.

Ta Wee won this race in 1969.
