Regiunea Baia Mare

Regiunea Baia Mare (Baia Mare region) was one of the 1950 newly established administrative divisions of the People's Republic of Romania, set after the soviet style.

The capital of the region was Baia Mare, and its territory comprised an area similar to the nowadays Maramureş and Satu Mare counties. In 1952 it received rayon Vişeu from Rodna region, after its dissolution. In 1960 it changed its name to Maramureş.
