Regents Park Community College is a girls comprehensive school in west Southampton, Hampshire, in the south of England. The most recent Ofsted inspection was 19/09/2006 when the inspectors reported that "The school is an outstanding school. The students make outstanding progress and their achievements are well above average. It is led very impressively by its headteacher whose vision for and commitment to the students and community is shared with equal enthusiasm by the staff."[1]
The school is a specialist Business and Enterprise College and Humanities College for 11 to 16 year olds.
[edit] Plans for the future
As part of Southampton City Council's review of Secondary Education, called Learning Futures, the school will start accepting boys from September 2008.
The school has extensive plans to rebuild and upgrade PE facilities. They will knock down the current gym and build a slightly larger one in roughly the same place - the changing rooms will also be replaced and relocated slightly, to make room for an extra boys changing room. Also included in these plans is the addition of a dance studio. Boys toilets will also be built, most likely on the lower floor, close to the current year 8/9 girls toilets, although, the school does have a rather small boys toilets on the upper floor.
