Regent Seven Seas Cruises is a cruise line, formerly known as Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Luxury cruises are offered to over 300 ports on six continents, including Antarctica. Their vessels are designed for hundreds of guests, rather than thousands. All ships are distinct in their accommodations, service, dining and amenities. Most of the Regent vessels offer all-balcony, all-suite accommodations, and many of the cabins have butler service from the English Guild of Butlers. Several of the ship dining rooms are operated under the auspices of Le Cordon Bleu. These are the only restaurants at sea today operated by Le Cordon Bleu chefs. This luxury cruise line has trips to exotic places such as the Baltic Sea, French Polynesia and Antarctica, and it offers around-the-world cruises, as well.

Some of the distinguishing factors between this cruise line and many other cruise lines include:

  • No tipping: Gratuities are included in the cruise fare for all RSSC vessels.
  • Open seated dining: Passengers can dine in any of the ships' restaurants whenever they are open, with whomever they choose. There are no pre-selected tablemates or meal times. In some of the alternative restaurants, reservations are recommended.
  • Complimentary beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic: There is no additional charge for soft drinks or bottled water on any RSSC ship. Complimentary beverages include select wines spirits and beer, served throughout the ship.
  • Starting in 2008, smoking restricted to limited areas on vessels. Link to smoking policy http://www.rssc.com/smokingpolicy

Apollo Management, the investment group, purchased Regent Seven Seas Cruises from Carlson Cos. for $1 billion, with deal finished in February 2008. Apollo Investments also own Oceania Cruises and 50% of Norwegian Cruise Line. Following the purchase, Apollo made public their plans to order a new ship for Regent. The new ship is planned to be of similar dimensions and capacity as the Seven Seas Voyager and Seven Seas Mariner, but with larger accommodations and expanded public spaces. The planned delivery time for the ship is in 2011.[1]
