Regent Releasing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Regent Releasing is a U.S. theatrical distribution company based in Los Angeles, California, under the umbrella of Regent Media, which is owned by producers Paul Colichman and Stephen P. Jarchow.

Veteran film buyer John A. Lambert, previously of United Artists, is the President of Regent Releasing and Helene Nielsen Beal, formerly of Disney and Paramount, is the Director of U.S. Theatrical Distribution.

Focusing on narrow releases of independent films from around the world and from U.S. filmmakers, Regent's success includes such films as Sordid Lives starring Olivia Newton-John, Delta Burke, and Leslie Jordan, Franco Zeffirelli's Callas Forever starring Fanny Ardant, Jeremy Irons and Joan Plowright, and The Hunting of the President, producer Harry Thomason's documentary based on the book about the right-wing conspiracy to destroy Bill Clinton. Many of the films Regent distributes come from festival acquisitions through here! Films, their LGBT sister company.

In 2005, Regent secured a three-year, $50 million credit facility through Merrill Lynch.[1] In September of 2007, Regent hired independent producer/financier Mary Aloe of Proud Mary Entertainment to source acquisitions for its existing P&A (prints and advertising) fund.[2]
