Reg Holdsworth was a fictional character in the ITV British soap-opera Coronation Street played by Ken Morley
[edit] Profile
Reg was first seen as the manager of the Bettabuys store. He liked to think of himself as a ladies` man. He once took Curly Watts with him to a Salon so that he could have a hairpiece fitted. Curly and Reg became good friends.
Reg's love life consisted of many women, beginning with his wife Veronica, but she soon discovered his affair with a store detective, but rather than just settling down, Reg began seeing Rita Fairclough. They first had a mainly platonic relationship, but Reg wanted more than that, but Rita denied him the chance.
In 1993, Reg recognised his old girlfriend from years ago, Maureen Naylor. She was stacking shelves in Bettabuy, but one thing stuck in Regs way, Maud Grimes, Maureen's Mother. Maud had always disliked Reg from the start, and she had hoped Maureen would find someone less 'pompous'. Reg finally led Maureen up to his bedroom, where his waterbed burst.
Reg later married Maureen, in January 1994. He had also bought the Corner Shop for £68,000. Maureen and Maud managed the shop, the three living in surprising harmony, until Reg was posted in the Bettabuys in Lowestoft, which meant Reg had to commute a long way, and Reg found a new woman, Yvonne Bannister, so Reg left the street, and Maureen behind, and went to live with Yvonne who was pregnant with his child.
Reg Holdsworth also lived on, as a conference facilitator in the Emmerdale Special - 'Dingles in Venice'. Then later as a Manager for a Wine and Beer Warehouse in Calais, France in a Coronation Streeet Special.
