[edit] Comparing chess players from different time periods
What systems exist for comparing two chess players whose careers did not overlap? NeonMerlin 22:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- We even have an article entitled Comparing top chess players throughout history! One system is the Elo rating system. For issues in using this for comparing the strengths of non-contemporaneous players, see also the section Ratings inflation and deflation in that article. Another system is Chessmetrics. --Lambiam 04:19, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
