[edit] Low Brow

What exactly is "low brow" culture? Why is it that things such as genre fiction or exploitation films can be included in the same cultural category as Jerry Springer. 71.31.159.52 00:38, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

That is rather upsetting. I think I'll rip my shirt off and hit the perpetrators with a folding chair while yelling obscenities which are constantly bleeped. StuRat 07:07, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Low culture has an interested read as a source [1] Rockpocket 07:18, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] William Tell Overture download

I'm looking for a download of Rossini's William Tell Overture, specifically the part famous for use during sunrise scenes. I can't find one that isn't either a ringtone, the "horse chase" part, or not for download. Help? - AMP'd 01:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

THIS SITE seems to have an excerpt that isn't the 'lone ranger' theme for download. Don't know if it's the one you want cuz I can't play it. Anchoress 01:24, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Neither can I, and I don't plan on paying $8 for a song that's in the public domain. (Its copyright's expired.) - AMP'd 01:42, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I didn't notice that until later. But I thought it might be possible to download it anyway (it often is). But as to copyright... the copyright on the composition may be expired, but I doubt the copyright on many recordings has. Anchoress 07:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Do you think the version on Project Gutenberg will allow me to download it? It says I need Quicktime Pro to save it on my computer. - AMP'd 16:49, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
I downloaded it, at least I downloaded the MP3 at the bottom of the screen, and I don't have QuickTime Pro. I right-clicked on the 'Main site' link and chose 'save target as'. But it isn't a very good quality recording, unfortunately. If you can't download it, email me or chat me on yahoo and I'll send it to you. It played in Real Player. Anchoress 17:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
It is indeed a poor quality recording, but it seems to be a little better than the .ogg that we have on Wikipedia. Thanks. - AMP'd 18:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Juicy"

What group (or individual) sings the song "Juicy" that is used in the Desparate Housewives ads and is now being used in Applebee's Restaurant ads? Corvus cornix 02:47, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

That would be Juicy by Better Than Ezra. Rockpocket

[edit] Kirstin Dunst

Does Kirstin Dunst do her own singing in Spider-man 3? Corvus cornix 02:47, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Apparently so. Her article suggests she is a competant singer and she was asked directly in this interview:

Can you talk about the singing? That's really you singing?

Dunst: Yeah, yeah.

Was that nerve-racking?

Dunst: I got to prerecord it, so I just lip-synch.

Rockpocket 07:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
oh i remember when jimmy fallon and kirstne dunst were the host of mtv vma in 2001 (i think, or 2000), they made a parody of madonna's 'Don't Tell Me' and Kirsten Dunst is really an incompetant singer! Someone removed it off youtube though. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 219.77.167.40 (talk) 13:02, 8 May 2007 (UTC).

The real question is....did she do her own clavecin playing in Marie Antoinette?Coolsnak3 23:24, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The hussies or something..

I was listening to West FM (scottish radio station) tonight and the DJ Inness played a song by a band with the name something like The Hussies, I can't remember exactly the name of the song, but it had something to do with the girl singer's boyfriend going off to uni to do well an stuff. Any help would be appreciated. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.178.251.218 (talk) 23:57, 6 May 2007 (UTC).

Sounds very much like the Canadian grrl-band, The Hussies. They released an EP Simple Songs For Complicated People. [2] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rockpocket (talkcontribs) 07:16, 7 May 2007 (UTC).
I checked them up but their myspace and some websites i looked at didn't have the song I was looking for.. thanks though. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.178.251.218 (talk) 23:49, 7 May 2007 (UTC).
