[edit] Frank Sinatra Lived in Cuba in '50's

Hi, I am trying to confirm that someone told me that Frank Sinatra lived and had a residence in Cuba in the mid '50's to late 50's; of did he ever LIVE in Cuba - or did he just frequently visit cuba? 75.201.145.84 08:07, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Leanne DeCoste-Arcacha;

[edit] Hitchcocks Search Copter in The 39 Steps.

It has been some years since I saw this film, The 39 Steps, and I might be mistaken. I believe I saw a helicopter being used to search for Richard Hannay (Robert Donat) during the flight scene over scottish moors. If so, that would have been about the time the first helicopter was invented. The vehicle had a shell of a biplane, with a pilot and observer. I'm thinking that Hitchcock might have used the latest technology for his movie .. or I might not be recalling it correctly. Can anyone help with this? DDB 08:24, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes. I watched it just now and there was a helicopter. Clarityfiend 18:25, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. I'm now thinking it was probably a Cierva C.30A Autogiro which is only a cousin of a helicopter. DDB 20:15, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

It looks very much like the image of the autogiro in the article. The thing in the film had a forward propeller and a fixed undercarriage and the fuselage had the same shape. The only difference I can see is that the one in the film had a noticeable tail. Clarityfiend 00:40, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I can reconfirm that the vehicle in the movie has a forward propeller and therefore is an autogyro, not a helicopter. --Anonymous, Feb. 12, 04:03 (UTC).

[edit] victims of dognapping

What slebrities dogs and the dogs names have been victims of shocking crim of dognapping and what happened did they get them back or not and did they pay a randsome and why are we not allowed to mention this in teh dognapping article? Lilyfan87 11:06, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Paris Hilton and Tinkerbell possibly(?). 惑乱 分からん 11:20, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Your contribution to the dognapping article was not considered relevant to the building of the article. You would need to explain why this particular case of dognapping was notable and cite your source. Please read your talk page where editors are explaining where you are going wrong.--Shantavira 13:11, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Lily Allen's dog Maggie May was dognapped, and one of her friends bought the dog back off the thief. I'm not sure whether the man who stole the dog has been caught, but presumably the friend who bought back the dog must have at least got to see the person. From your username and edit to dognapping it would appear that you already knew this. Laïka 16:17, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hip hop/Hip hop soul song

A few days ago I listened on a US radio station a song (hip hop-like) that I'd like to identify. It was sung by a woman, must've been something like "sharifa" or "shatifa" but I didn't quite catch the name. The chorus begins with something about a box: I want/need a box (or the like)... I don't have many clues as you can see, and my Google searches with the clues I have haven't provided me with anything interesting.

If you happen to like the genre & happen to know the song I'll be very glad! --RiseRover|talk 18:03, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

One idea, though it doesn't fit the description perfectly is Beyonce's hit song "Irreplaceable", which at least has a box chorus:
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
Everything you own in the box to the left
In the closet that's my stuff - Yes
Otherwise, singer Shakira has a similar name, although I don't know many of her songs... Hope for more information... 惑乱 分からん 18:13, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I know that song by Beyoncé but it's not that one... Also it wasn't Shakira (not her style or voice.) But thanks anyway! --RiseRover|talk 18:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
It seems unlikely that it'd be on the radio, and it's not hip-hop, but maybe "My Box in a Box"? How about "Fergalicious"? (Lyrics in hook: "That puts them boys on rock, rock/And they be lining down the block just to watch what I got") The artist isn't Gwen Stefani, is it? Just throwing out a few random thoughts... zafiroblue05 | Talk 21:42, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
"Fergalicious" is by Fergie, hence the title... =S 惑乱 分からん 23:05, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Of course... I was just going through the Billboard singles charts to see if anything there could at all fit... zafiroblue05 | Talk 00:38, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Hey thanks for those chart links (though you need to subscribe to see beyond the 20th on the lists??) I eventually found the song - the singer is Shareefa (I was close!) and the title Need a Boss. Seems I misheard box instead of BOSS. Oops!! :D --RiseRover|talk 09:54, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, nicely done. Anyway, if you're a fan of hip-hop/rap, you could check out lyrics at http://www.ohhla.com in the future. Quite good site for English-language lyrics. 惑乱 分からん 11:34, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Clans", "Red alert" and "Tiberian sun"

Hey.

I was wondering about an old computer-game made all the way back in 1999, called "CLANS". It is not a very known game, very simple in many ways, and therefore never very popular. It is a roleplay-like game... adventure action or something.. not really RPG.

However, I tried a DEMO of it back in 2000 or 2001 or somesuch... and something made me feel drawn to it. I liked i—Mitaphane ?|! 05:25, 12 February 2007 (UTC)t, and i remembered it still today, but I cannot find anywhere to download it... and nowhere to buy it..

Searching simply for 'Clans' might not give any results, so i guess i can add to say that the game is developed by "Strategy first" and published by "GT interactive".

here are three sites with a LITTLE tiny bit of info that i found so that you know what its about:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/clans/index.html

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/clans/

http://www.fileplanet.com/35364/30000/fileinfo/Clans

1) My question then is can you help me find anywhere to buy/download this game ? ...If there is any such internet-store or site that is... maybe help me find out then ? :)

2) My computer is Windows xp, and it has Athlon (I think very similar to Pentium 4). Do you think oldtime-greats such as "Red alert" and "command & conquer: Tiberian sun" works on my computer ? they are originally meant for win 98 i think, but i have managed old games on this computer before, even Win 95/98-games... what you think ? You think "Clans" would work too ?

3) Old games such as "Red alert" could maybe be downloadable somewhere on the net by now, no ? since its fairly old and probly no more money can be earned on it, they have put it out on free download , dont you think ? sometimes they do that. but i didn't find any sites myself tho... maybe you know better how to search than I do ? I would be grateful.

thank you, Krikkert7 20:47, 11 February 2007 (UTC)krikkert7

Abandonware? 惑乱 分からん 21:42, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
2: As far as Red Alert and Tiberian Sun working, Win 95/98 executables are compatible on the XP platform; they'll run fine. However, the game speed was set for the computers of the day. Since you're computer is far faster than computers a decade ago, you might have to adjust speed settings.
3: As old as Red Alert and Tiberian Sun is, they are still under copyright( which EA owns now), and aren't just going to be given away for free. Considering how old they are, it might be cheaper (in terms of time spent looking for an illegal copy) just to buy the game [1]Mitaphane ?|! 05:25, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
