The anime OVA Refrain Blue (リフレインブルー Rifurein Buruu?) is an adaptation of the original H-game of the same name. Produced by ELF and Pink Pineapple, Refrain Blue was released in 2000. Typically such adaptations have heavy adult themes; Refrain Blue however has at most, partial nudity, and is more of a romantic/drama anime, with a bit of ecchi and mystery.

Matsunaga Yoshihiro is a young man given the task of watching over a group of students from Touyou School on their summer break to a beach. One of the students, Morisawa Nao, has had sadness in her heart from her past - something Yoshihiro can relate to, having his own issues arrising during the trip.
The first chapter, "Recollection", told about the recollection of Yoshihiro past about various events of summer school, of the fate where encounter and separation are interwoven with each other, as Yoshiro and Matsunaga will pass the Toyo Gakuen and will arrive at summer school at seashore. A mysterious girl smiles as she watches Yoshiro who stands still at the seashore dusk. The second chapter focuses on other characters, Matsunaga, who was caught by the feeling of the past but cannot be betrayed. On the last chapter, Matsunaga met the girl of mystery from first chapter.
