A Pistol for Ringo

Actually, you were incorrect when you said it had no reliable sources. There were several citations given, and they looked pretty reliable to me. Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 20:36, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

If you meant the one about the Abdul-guy, (the online site) that was actually an unrelated citation. It's from another suggestion, see. The citations which were part of the article suggestion were indeed related to the article. Town & Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997

Perhaps you can tell me why my brief article, which makes reference to Acts of the UK/Scottish parliament and simply extrapolates from them without ANY personal opinion, is considered unacceptable? I would draw your attention to the pages covering the English planning acts which a riddled with personal or un-referenced comment...

I would appreciate an explanation, if for nmot other reason but to enable me to submit an acceptable entry...

Cheers,

David

I've added a couple of BBC News stories relating to planning in Scotland which make reference to this act...I would also draw your attention to the relevent wikipedia page for the English planning act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_and_Country_Planning_Act_1990) Which has no references whatsoever... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.83.240.226 (talk) 12:35, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Social life in Corfu during the last four hundred years - The origin of the surname LEFTERIOTIS which is common in Corfu

Will you please explain to me why this article is not suitable for Wikipedia and how could I reform it in order to make it suitable ? By the way, did you take your time to review the old documents, I am offering to Wikipedia, for the sake of its readers (especially this of the last Doge of Venice)? Proposed merger from Farmington Public Library

Hello! I noticed that you proposed on 19:19, 14 January 2008 to merge Farmington Public Library into Farmington, New Mexico, but you did not provide any comment on Talk:Farmington, New Mexico. Do you still think these should be merged? If so, could you add a comment? Thank you. --Uncia (talk) 00:49, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

ISM (formerly Irma S. Mann Strategic Marketing)

Hi RedFarmer- I had submitted the article on ISM you reviewed earlier today. These guys have done a lot of unusual stuff in their field, but need to know what the specifics are for noteworthiness. To me, starting a new 'mini industry' in the advertising field is pretty noteworthy, but I how do I back that up with facts? I've compared them with others of their ilk, and they are something unique... Any help is appreciated.

Last of the Summer Wine

Hi. Since you cleaned up Last of the Summer Wine and took it to GA and now FAC, I was wondering if you had an plans to (or would be willing to), clean up its episode list. I posted a message about the work needed at the project talk and it was suggested to see if you'd like to do it since it relates to the FAC you have going. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 08:32, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Ray Butt

Hmm...The source I've used is the episodes themselves (which are surely the primary sources for television episodes). You can see a screencap of the closing titles to "The Great Boarding House Caper" here.

no problems, I completely understand the problem. The only souce that really exists is the Bright and Ross book, and that has errors and omissions on it. I had the same problem when I reformatted the episode guide, there's a dispute over the transmission of Series 9 (whether it was transmitted in 1986, before the episode "Merry Christmas, Father Christmas" or 1987 after it). The Bright and Ross book & the BBC comedy guide disagreed and there were no other sources I could find to back up either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul 1978 (talkcontribs) 23:27, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Series 9 is certainly the most problematic. I think that all the episodes in that block (whether they were shown in 1986 or 1987, and that's still open to discussion) should be regarded as one series, whatever the DVD distribution suggests (they were all filmed, and all shown in one go, as one series).
I've never come across those 2 names, but i'll keep an eye out (i've just checked and they weren't producers or directors in the first 6 series...I'll check the other episodes I have, see if I can find anything).
One question I have for you, you've removed "Big Day at Dream Acres" from the film section. I was wondering why?...It seems to me to be a film, it's the same length as "Getting Sam Home" & "Uncle of the Bride", and like those 2 (and unlike any other episode) all the production credits are at the beginning of the episode.Paul 1978 (talk) 23:55, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Ah...Ok, that's fine (it is probably an error, but as you say, it's the only source so it'll have to do).
I've found Martin Shardlow...He was a production assistant on Series 5, but is credited as "studio director" for episode 7 "Here We Go Again into the Wild Blue Yonder" (I'd guess Lotterby must have been ill for the studio sessions and he took over)
here's a screencap
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/geordieboy56/summerwine2.jpg
and the BBFC listing for that episode calls him director

If the BBFC listings are good sources, here's the 2 listings for Ray Butt's episodes

I think a mention in the crew section, something along the lines of "Martin Shardlow directed the studio sessions for episode 7 of Series 5, "Here...etc", would do (for completeness sake, he is credited onscreen). He's certainly worthy of an article for himself as well (he directed the first series of BlackAdder, the first series of Only Fools and Horses, Alas Smith and Jones & produced and directed the last series of Are You Being Served)
Incidentaly, I can't find any trace of a "Robin Nash" working as a producer on LotSW. He worked on a number of Comedy programmes, but all I can find regarding LotSW are references which just list him as a producer, without any reference to which episodes. I've checked the credits of the first 11 series and haven't spotted him, and I'm pretty confident that Alan Bell has been the sole producer since then. I think it must be a mistake on the BBC Comedy site, that other sites have copied. Paul 1978 (talk) 14:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm continuing to search for info on Robin Nash and I've found this, which is an archived web page of the old BBC Comedy Guide
http://web.archive.org/web/20050317035909/www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/l/lastofthesummerw_7774090.shtml
It has Robin Nash as producer of 1 episode. Now, included in the series list is a short special (it's about 6 minutes long), broadcast as part of a show called "The Funny Side of Christmas" in 1982, which was a show containing a series of short sketches from a number of popular comedies of the time. Info about that is here
http://web.archive.org/web/20040208234558/http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/f/funnysideofchris_66601560.shtml
I've seen the short sketch of LotSW from that show, but it didn't have any credits, and i think Robin Nash might have been the producer of "The Funny Side of Christmas" and that's why he's included in this list.Paul 1978 (talk) 15:30, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I think i'm right, i've just looked at the archived page for "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin" and he's listed as producer for "Special", which is the special from "The Funny Side of Christmas"
http://web.archive.org/web/20040407011747/www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/f/fallandriseofreg_7772565.shtml
The Same with Open All Hours
http://web.archive.org/web/20050511031042/www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/o/openallhours_66600470.shtml
Whether this deserves a place in the article, I'm not sure, but i'm pleased to have (seemingly) solved the mystery, it's been bugging me since you asked lol Paul 1978 (talk) 15:34, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
And definite confirmation, the BFI database entry for "The Funny Side of Christmas", lists Nash as Producer
