[edit] Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies
Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of [unassessed articles] tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 21:51, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ghits
Looking at some of your proposed deletions, it might possibly not be a good idea to decide if people with careers prior to 1998 are notable solely on the basis of ghits. If you've checked more than that, please don't give just ghits as the reason--makes it harder for us overworked admins to check prior to deleting the articles. DGG 22:52, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Give me a hint
You tagged Bernard Farrell as a copyright violation, but you didn't link to the source of the material, and I didn't find it by googling. What is this material copied from? -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:24, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- Never mind; I found it. Showed up in the edit history but not, oddly, in the actual box on the article. -FisherQueen (Talk) 18:25, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi RedRollerskate,
A couple of years ago I beat back an attempt for the article to be deleted. Their logic was that it was family vanity not worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia. I believe what won the day was my argument that just because I wrote the article did not automatically mean the subject of it, being my father, was not of sufficient notability. I have been annoyed for several years at the lack of information about the Caribbean region available on the internet, and particularly with Wikipedia where participation is required, the general laziness of most Caribbean citizens and population numbers per country compared to larger nations means not much information is available. Where better to start than with my own dad, about whom I could write an article without needing sources, which are hard to come by in the Caribbean. My article on him had a chain reaction and now most of our politicians at least have a stub.
Anyway, without sophisticated news organisations that chronicle every last thing that happens such as what you have in the US or in Canada, it is hard for me to "wikify" the article further. I point out that the article you see before you was much altered by people on my side of the Vfd debate. And that is the problem I am having. In trying to make the article resemble articles about similar people in other countries, I have to draw on information I (often) cannot prove with a simple link. For example, with the Quincenntennial Lifetime Achievement Award for Law, the only way I can prove that is to scan the award, which is of course framed in my dad's office, as the newspapers did not have a list of recepients on the day. Surely it would not be appropriate for my source to be a digital image of the actual award ! The OBE I can of course prove through the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website or the British media and the JP designation through the CI government website. Surely one of the many articles our local paper has done on him will contain the vast majority of the family/education/etc material in the article. But I can't prove all of it and I hope you understand that.
If you're willing to help me, please let me know how to proceed in light of these limitations. Travisritch 22:34, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Alana Davis Fortune Cookies.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Alana Davis Fortune Cookies.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
The following images also have this problem:

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Alana_Davis_Fortune_Cookies.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Alana_Davis_Fortune_Cookies.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 20:55, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Alana_Davis_Surrender_Dorothy.jpg
I have tagged Image:Alana_Davis_Surrender_Dorothy.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 20:55, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Alana Davis Surrender Dorothy.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Alana Davis Surrender Dorothy.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:10, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Teens Belize
A tag has been placed on Teens Belize requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
