[edit] Era Vulgaris
Thanks for working on the article. I noticed that you reassessed the article too. I've reverted it to start class, because:
- Articles should only be reviewed by editors who have not made a significant contribution to them.
- It doesn't yet meet the criteria for B class at WP:ALBUM.
Once the article meets the criteria, please submit it for assessment at WP:ALBUMA. Thanks - Alex valavanis 08:52, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Era Vulgaris (album)
Hi, I hope all is well. I'll keep an eye on 72.72.36.247, and I've given him a 'gentle' warning. Hopefully it's just some kid messing around. All the best, Pat. Scarian 00:19, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for helping, though it's 216.231.14.195 who has added it on several occasions. It probably some kid and hopefull they'll give up soon. red157 00:29, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- I like your deviant art stuff, btw. Okay anyway, I gave that guy his second tag... he's done a fair amount of vandalism. All the best, Pat. Scarian 00:38, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thans for visiting my DeviantArt and helping out with the vandal. Always nice to see a person on wikipedia with a similar outlook on things. red157 00:41, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Songs for the Deaf
Hi, mate from Rekords Rekords forum. I saw your contributions and help to this article There are some questions unanswered (stated by reviewer):
- How did they choose a producer?
- What was their goal for the album?
- Were there snafus that almost halted production?
- Where did they record?
Any clues? Can I footnote to thefade.net?
Broken soul 13:40, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Without research I don't know many of the answers, and I don't think I'd be able to find a reference for the last question. thefade.net does seem a good source, as it knows more about the band than most who write articles and has almost been given the stamp of approval by QOTSA themselves (The competition a while back). red157 13:48, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Look, what I've found:
It's a snippet from article with interview with Josh Homme, and it describes what was the band's goal, isn't it?
"I've been thinking of this album since the first album, not necessarily the radio thing, but to me that isn't the full concept, the full concept is the diversity of it all," Homme explains. "I think we're supposed to be pushing buttons over the three records. I've always looked at our first three records as a set: the first one was to distance ourselves from Kyuss, the second album fanned out the music into different areas and this one takes that out even a little further, I think. A dynamic for the records had been created, so then it's inevitable that a pattern is set. And the reason to set a pattern is to destroy it, and you first have to think of what you wanna destroy before you set the pattern."
Broken soul 12:14, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
or this one:
"We're still doin' the same thing we always did, which is play music that we wanna hear but we can't buy it in the stores so we have to make it. We're not trying to cater to anybody - I wouldn't know how to do that because I've never sold records, you know what I mean? 'Let's write a single!' I don't know what that is - I've never had one. But if sellin' out means we've sold some records, then bring it!" Broken soul 12:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've read those bits in the 'No one Knows' book and agree that it's quite clearly Josh explaining the band's goals. Good find. red157 12:18, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
And one more question:
Should "artwork" section should cover information about music videos? Or should I change it to "artwork and visual representation"? By the way I found out who directed "No One Knows" video. Broken soul 12:26, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I guess visual representation is just as good a term as any. Though maybe a more simple 'Video and cover art'. Well that sounds a bit stupid, probably not that. And do you use the Born to Hula fan site to get the links to old articles? red157 12:34, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Oh, yeah. Born to Hula, Blabbermouth, MTV, and thefade.net :) Broken soul 12:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Do you think it's worthy GA now?
I'm exhausted...and I have re-take descriptive grammar test for college credit tomorrow. I'm afraid I can't contribute anymore today, and tomorrow is the deadline for final statement about Good article. Does it have any chance now? Broken soul 13:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm honestly unsure. I'm free for a while today so I'll double check everything that is asked of the article by the person who failed the first GA nomination. It's certainly not as developed as examples of GA albums I've seen, but it's much better than most B rated albums. Good luck on your grammar test tomorrow. :) red157 14:00, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, QOTSA is very hard band to get every detail on them, don't you think? I tried to do everything that was in the hints, and I'm sure that is better than Rated-B articles, I hope it will reach GA. Thanks for help Broken soul 14:05, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Same to you, if it reaches GA it's you who deserves the plaudits. I've got a couple of things in mind for this article (Legacy of album, single choices), but I'm sure they can be left off for a while to see if such things are vital to a GA article. red157 14:08, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Allucscreenshot.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Allucscreenshot.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire
Thank you for your revisions on the article You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire. I am glad to see that I'm not the only Queens addict here. I do however have something to contest with you about. Your edit here is a little harsh, don't you think? I have been to a Live Queens of the Stone Age concert at the Riviera Theater here in Chicago, and It was played at the encore along with no one knows. Ask anyone who went (check Rekords Rekords Forum). I have also heard from others that it has occured at multiple different shows during their tour, including the extended "Duluth" Tour. You said: "totally untrue thing about encore...". I know it's none of my buisness but how would you know?
Thank you for your understanding.
Peace, Love, and Death Metal -- RatedR Leg of Lamb 01:55, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- My problem wasn't with how often it's played or anything like that, it's saying it was played after the encore alongside No one Knows. That may have been your gig, but the majority of times it's been played, it's used as an opener for the show.Red157 14:40, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Queens of the Stone Age - Make it Wit Chu.ogg
Thanks for uploading Image:Queens of the Stone Age - Make it Wit Chu.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:12, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Artwork in infoboxes
Yo Red, long time, just dropping by to ask about the Queens singles articles and the use of images. The covers of preceding and following singles in the infobox are a nice touch to the articles, but there's no way you can justify them as fair use - in 99% of cases cover artwork is only valid in the article on that specific product. Expect to see a lot more of the bot copyright messages flooding your way sometime soon. Skomorokh incite 22:25, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- I still essentially know little of wikipedia and always go by what I see on other articles. This may be one of the cases where that's proved a bad idea. Saw it on Chris Cornell's single discography and thought it'd be a nice touch, forgot about all the fair use ramifications... Red157 00:32, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, looks like the copyright police have already nixed it on the Chris Cornell singles. Skomorokh incite 00:35, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- Whoops, so they have. Sorry about this, then.Red157 17:57, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm going to be bold and remove the queens images Red, before the bots catch it. I caught onto it because I was dealing with fair use rationales of some of them; fair use rationales are required by Wikipedia's non-free policy for any article they are used in. But as Skomorokh said, it's in most cases only valid in their specific articles. Cheers. -- Reaper X 22:04, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Good decision, again sorry for the trouble. Red157 01:33, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your help on the article. --Freedom (song) (talk) 14:15, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WhoMadeWho
Hi there Red157, I deleted the article under the speedy deletion criteria. I didn't think it met the basic requirements of notability to have an article on Wikipedia; specifically any of the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (music). For someone to judge its notability it needs verifiable sources which it didn't, and its popularity on myspace has no bearing on whether the topic merits an article on Wikipedia. If you still disagree with the deletion after reading the pages linked above, then please see Wikipedia:Deletion review for instructions on how to ask for a reconsideration. Regards. [edit] Bashed monkey Noise Experience
The article Bashed monkey Noise Experience has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:31, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
