Myself in 2005
Myself in 2005

My real name is Bernardo Boncompagni. I was born in Florence, Italy, on November 12, 1970 from Paolo and Stefania Grazzini and before reaching age 13 I had lived in Pistoia, Livorno, Rome, Arezzo, Modena and Milano following my father's career. In 1995 I graduated at Politecnico di Milano in chemical engineering. After military service, I started working and in 1999 moved to a gas manufacturing company based in Monza where I live since 2000.

[edit] Pets

I love cats: I usually find them a much better company than most humans. My first cat, a black-and-white female named Micia, accompanied my life for a decade and a half during my studies: she died a few days after my graduation. In 2000 I found two newborn twin cats on the street and I took them home: I named Tal-Rasha the black male and Lut Gholein the turtle-scale female after a hero and a city found in the Diablo 2 videogame. They have lived happily with me eversince.

[edit] Computer science

After graduating I never actually worked as an engineer: I started instead my career in quality management systems while exploiting my programming skills, which I developed as a hobby. After a short while, I started earning a living as a programmer.

[edit] Mathematics

I always saw programming as a tool for mathematical research. As an amateur, I cooperated in several projects, most of them involving number theory and specifically prime numbers.

[edit] Videogames

As a side effect of the (ab)use of my time on a PC, I soon found myself entangled in videogames. I played all Blizzard's games since Warcraft and became recently addicted to MMORPGs: after devoting some time to Star Wars: Galaxies I am now playing World of Warcraft.

[edit] Personal beliefs

[edit] Politics

I have been actively working in the PDS (now DS) for almost a decade, then I left the party but kept a left-wing view which led me to vote for them or for other parties in the Ulivo coalition. During my political campaigns in the late 80s and early 90s I gained the nickname Red Golpe.

[edit] Religion and philosophy

I am an atheist who embraced Laplace's deterministic point of view about God and nature.
