[edit] RFA

I just saw your comment on JJ's talk page. Your last RFA, looked good. But, (yikes!), the withdrawn statement might haunt you, as it did to me. Especially the following: "I pledge improve and hope to re-apply within the next 5½ or 6 months." I wrote 2-3 months on my 1st RFA, and my second RFA, was before that time, and it was a disaster. Just about everyone opposed because of that. But, I don't think you should wait 5 months I think you would make an easy pass around Tax Day. I'm more than willing to co-nominate/nominate. Tell me what you think. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 20:06, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Hmm.... I suppose that's you own decision. But your last RFA was on Jan. 24. It's only been just over a month. See my first RFA (completely premature), and # 2. If you look at most of the oppose reasons, you'll see what I mean. But like I said, no matter what date your run, I'm willing to nominate/co-nominate. But, just don't make it around My RFA Date, cause then people will think (well you know) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 20:24, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Sure, I'll do it tonight. (I have to go right now) But I will tonight. You have gone through admin coaching, right? - Milk's Favorite Cookie 20:24, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
To tell you the truth, I really think you are making the right decision! When are you holding off until? Tax day? Anyways... the first thing I want to know is how you would answer your questions on an RFA. This is something like admin coaching, but its not admin coaching. Click here, and answer the questions. Also, I recommend you do an editor review. Pedro usually doesn't mind reviewing it, and if you tell him to find out your weaknesses, I'm sure he will be more than glad to assist you. I'm going to go review your contribs. Thanks. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 02:07, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Revisionist history

In my opinion, this revision to your previous promise in your third RfA is unacceptable. I wouldn't hold it against you if you changed your mind and decided to try earlier than your original promise, but I certainly would hold it against you if you try to make it look like you never said that. Please change it back. --barneca (talk) 21:48, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I understand. People are allowed to make mistakes, it's how they react afterwards that concerns me more. I'm glad you agree that was a bad idea, and thanks for reverting it. --barneca (talk) 23:08, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, there are several ways to look at it. In my experience, 3-4 months is common, but not set in stone. Two months is almost always considered too early. A more important question is whether you addressed all the concerns expressed in your previous RfA. If not, no number of months is going to help.
It's probably not what you want to hear, but my own advice is, consider keeping with your original plan, and trying again in the summer, for a couple of reasons:
  • Someone is going to notice your RfA from today was speedily deleted, and will mention it on your next one; not a problem if there's some time between them, but could be a problem if your next one is soon.
  • Someone is likely to notice your edits to RfA #3 today, and bring that up. I'm guessing you'll hear the dreaded words "wants it too much", and frankly that could doom future attempts for a long time.
  • Your goal should be a successful RfA#4, not an RfA#4 as soon as possible. My gut instinct is, if you knock too many months off your previous plan, your next RfA will fail as being "too soon", and then you're looking at waiting another 3-4 months after that! Better to get all your ducks in a row, wait perhaps an extra month or two longer than necessary, get many months of admin-like work under your belt, and go for one, single, controversy-free RfA.
You asked for advice, so that's mine, for what it's worth. Good luck with whatever you decide. --barneca (talk) 23:23, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:RFA

I guess that's your opinion. If you decide to, I would like to co-nom.   jj137 (talk) 23:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

OK; whenever you decide to give it a try just tell me.   jj137 (talk) 23:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I think the "The Bird Years" section and most of the history section in general needs trimming down.   jj137 (talk) 23:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Boston Celtics

The trimming you are currently doing in Boston Celtics, please do it properly, because after your edits there are enough words to be linked and you also had quite a few mistakes (like Billups was the 2005 Finals MVP). ● 8-Hype (talk|contributions) 11:41, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Dude! It was sweet! Nothing went wrong! Mrs. Billingsley and Mr. Wilson were great. All the people who went (me, shannon, maggie and so on) are having a meeting on Monday to discuss a project that might go through... MIDDLE SCHOOL RECESS!!!!!! --Carerra 13:54, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

No, the day would not be longer. We are thinking about just going out when we are done with lunch. We think the plan should take action sometime in late March, early April... --Carerra 14:13, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, first it was my idea. Thank you, thank you. Then we all agreed on it (including Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Billingsley) and they really want the plan to follow through. So it was him all along. Nobody learns about Wikipedia that fast. He lied the whole time. Well, all is well that ends well. Do we have any homework? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carerra (talkcontribs) 14:22, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Not yet. I am definetly going to today with Chris. I feel so professional watching someone being blocked for sockpuppetry. Can I like do something in his case? --Carerra 14:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

OMG!! Are you kidding me? I commented on his case. Take a looksy. I am really mad now! Ok reply back and then I have to go do my chores! --Carerra 14:34, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I have my monobook page open in a different window. Is there a spefific spelling? It is User:Carerra/monobook.jf Now give me some more directions starting from the begining. --Carerra 15:07, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, good luck with that. Now I refreshed and everythign but how do I use it? --Carerra 15:16, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Uhh... Twinkle isn't working very well for me. Nothing will come up when I click on the tabs and sometimes it says that I'm too new. I also tried Friendly but that did the same thing. Hi. Thank you again for joining the Tropical cyclones WikiProject. Aside from the information displayed on the main project page, it would help if you join the Wikipedia tropical cyclones IRC chat. This will help you to get an even better understanding of the workings of the project. In order to do this, you can visit this page, or you can go to this site, scroll down to Freenode in the "Server" box, type #wiki-hurricanes in the "Channel" box, and use your username as your nickname. I hope to see you there. Juliancolton The storm still blows... 23:03, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
