[edit] Basic Information
Redmond High sits atop Education Hill in Redmond, Washington, and is part of the Lake Washington School District (LWSD). The old Redmond High School building was replaced in 2003 with a two story structure[2] that features many environmentally friendly energy alternatives such as a large photovoltaic array and a state-of the-art geothermal heating system[citation needed]. The replaced building was built in the 1960s and had last been extensively remodeled during the 1983 - 1984 school year[citation needed].
As of 2006, the school principal of RHS is Jane Todd. The school's two assistant principals are Lloyd Higgins and Melissa Routh; both Jane Todd and Melissa Routh entered their positions at the start of the 2006-07 school year, replacing the former principal Brian Hunter and former assistant principal Debra Becker.[3]
[edit] Academics
Brian Anderson, an English teacher at RHS, recently received the Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching.[4] He was also spotlighted in an article which appeared in Seattle Metropolitan Magazine.[5]
[edit] Athletics
Redmond High School's sports department participates in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association's Kingco Athletic Conference, at the 4A level.
[edit] School Spirit
Redmond High School's mascot is the Mustang, and the school colors are predominantly dark green and gold, though in most ceremonies and events white is also included.
