Red Wing Public Schools

Independent School District 256 is a pre-K through grade 12 district located in Red Wing, Minnesota (population 16,000). Red Wing is located in the Mississippi River Valley, fifty miles southeast of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
Also known as the Red Wing School District, District 256 has approximately 2,800 students in K-12. The district employs 450 staff members; 200 are full or part-time teachers. Approximately 90% of district graduates continues their education beyond high school
District 256 has two elementary schools, Sunnyside Elementary school (grades k-2), and Burnside Elementary School (grades 3-5), one middle school, Twin Bluff Middle School (grades 6-8), two high schools, Red Wing High School (grades 9-12), and Tower View Alternative High School.
