[edit] Search for a Drummer

The members of Red Temper have been friends since the ages of 14. Red Temper initailly consisted of Liam and Laurance with an ever changing squad of back-up bassists, drummers (including Ashley Tarrant now of Billy Rebel)and rhythm guitarists. Among the drummers was Dayle, it was widely known at the time that he was a partcularly good drummer but no-one yet knew how good. His first big chance came when Red Temper (billed as Over2) were to play a set at the Danson Festival youth stage. He played as the drummer of the band for the first time, and an unusual yet comfortable chemistry seemed to tie everything together. This chemistry was strong enough for all the other drummers to be dissmissed and the three set about finding a bassist with the same or similar chemistry.

[edit] Search for a Bassist

Bassists were hard to come by, but as part of the youth group the guys belonged to, a few guitarists were converted. Originally Dave Meier was the bassist, but his sluggish hand and lack of willingness to speed up caused him to part ways with the band. Next on the bassist front was Tigi, who lasted for a few months, but was asked to leave after the relationship with the band had turned sour. The search for a bassist was haulted for a while as Liam decided to play bass and sing. This continued for about a year until Kayleigh decided she would play bass. It was later found out that she could sing covers a lot better than Liam, so was put on singing duty for early gigs. She later was found to be constantly under the over powering hand of her parents, being constantly grounded etc. This continued to be the case for the every gig the band had until Christmas 2006, when she was grounded again. Due to lack of material that could be used without her, the band decided she was too much of a risk and a mutual decision was reached that she should no longer play in the band. Now Liam is on bass for recordings and a live bassist will be sought out for future gigs.

[edit] Breaking Through

[edit] 2005

2004 (and early 2005) presented Red Temper with a barrage of name changes and member changes that few (if any) original material was ever written or played by the group. So we skip to 2005. 2005 was the year it all seemed to happen. The youth centre the band use to practise in was holding its first Christmas Charity Gig. With only a few original songs the band decided that the 25 minute set would consist covers. That evening's setlist was as follows: Muscle Museum and Unintended by Muse, Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson and Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols. Muscle Museum and Bohemian Like You are still performed live by the band.

[edit] 2006

In early 2006, the band had a gig at Barnehurst Golf Course supporting Deepend and Nelly's Heroes. Since that gig, the band have been writing solidly. Another performance at Danson Festival playing the first examples of original songs showed the band that their writing style was in the right direction.

[edit] 2007

2007 promises to be a good year for the band. The studio space previously used by the band is being overhauled so that it is able to create some good quality recordings. But, an unforeseen delay with a key component of the studio mean that they cannot get into the studio to record. They are dedicated in helping the studio which has gotten them as far as they have. So the first recording will be an extra special one.
