From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Red Eye, Black Eye is a graphic novel by cartoonist and Internet celebrity K. Thor Jensen, published by Alternative Comics.
[edit] Summary
The book recounts Jensen's sixty day, 10,000 mile trip across the United States via Greyhound bus. Starting shortly after the September 11th, 2001 attacks, Jensen's journey takes him on a circuitous route across America, staying primarily in the homes of people he met on the Internet, often through the web site he co-founded, Portal of Evil. Jensen visits various landmarks, both national (Plymouth Rock, Disneyland) and local (The Varsity in Atlanta, a burnt-out "wilderness preserve" in rural Alabama), smuggles drugs across the Mexican border, and is dragged behind a pickup truck while riding a burning couch. Throughout his journey, Jensen documents stories told to him by his hosts, their friends, and other people he meets, capturing tales of deviant sex, jobs gone awry, and a host of minor triumphs and tragedies.
