The Red Bird River is a tributary of the Kentucky River, located in the Daniel Boone National Forest in extreme Southeastern Kentucky. It's named after Chief Red Bird, a Cherokee who was murdered along its banks in the late 1700's by two men from Tennessee.

It rises in northeastern Bell County; then meanders northwards along the county line between Clay County and Leslie County, eventually coming to a confluence at Oneida, KY, with Goose creek to form the South Fork of the Kentucky River .
