Red-hot Stipples
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Red-hot Stipples is a magician-casted spell seen in the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud.
[edit] Effects
Like many magician spells, the Red-hot Stipples are used as punishment to force spirits to do a magician's bidding. Like the name implies, the stipples are a heat-based punishment that causes acute pain. Bartimaeus was the subject to many stipples as he had many sour and cruel masters. Many magicians use the Stipples to prod their servants or simply as a way to cut them off from speaking their mind. The stipples are a useful spell when a magician needs to punish their spirits but not so that they will be crippled.
