Redgrave-Head.jpg (298 × 400 pixels, file size: 10 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
One of the heads from the triptych, The Event, by William Redgrave (1903–86), salvaged after the 2004 Momart warehouse fire. It has been discoloured from bronze to terracotta but is in good shape. Glass has melted into the left eye. It is from a tableaux titled Gang Murder: Inclement Weather.
The Event is considered to be Redgrave's master work. The bronze triptych contains 49 tableaux of 228 individual figures, and measures 5' x 12' in total.
The fire completely destroyed one of the side panels. His son, Chris Redgrave, managed to retrieve at least 30 individual figures in good condition.
