Welcome!

Hello, Recklessronin, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Please look at this these links. Your style is different from the normal style in Wikipedia articles. Academic Challenger 23:50, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Mike Merrit

I just put a copyvio stamp on the Mike Merrit page, because it looks to be a verbatim copy of the guy's copyrighted homepage. Please let me know if I'm reading that copyright wrong and I'll remove my copyvio. Thanks, and I hope you continue contributing. Terrace4 00:21, 14 May 2005 (UTC)

I see you've already rewritten it--looks like it's coming along great. Thanks! A few small points:

  • You can sign your name on talk pages with four tilde's (~)
  • You can send messages by editing a user's "discussion" page (rather than the user page).
  • If you do alter copyvio articles, I guess you're supposed to put the alterations on a temporary subpage, so the copyrighted version can be removed. Otherwise (as I understand it), an older version of the article is preserved on Wikipedia, which infringes on the copyrighted material.

It seems you're making a nice contribution to the jazz content of the encyclopedia. If you're interested, Wikipedia:WikiProject Music genres describes (in not much detail) a project this might fit into. Thanks, Terrace4 01:03, 14 May 2005 (UTC)

Hi Reckless, This page has been deleted as a copyright violation. The later, re-written versions were also copyright violations (they were essentially the same, with Mike substituted for I). Please don't copy and paste copyrighted material (or derived work) into Wikipedia. If you are the original author of the MikeMerritt.com website, or have permission from the author to use this material in Wikipedia, then you need to state this on the article's talk page. Otherwise, feel free to re-write the article, but use your own words. --Duk 16:18, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Adam Lawton

Recklessronin,
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We're glad you have decided to join the Wikipedia project, it's a lot of fun. However, I would like to mention that it is not general Wikipedia practice to write articles about ourselves in the general namespace. However, if you would like to post information about yourself, you may create a page at User:Recklessronin, which is your personal page. On that page, you may post as much information about yourself as you would like, and we would love for you to do so there. I personally enjoy being able to find out more about the other people contributing to Wikipedia. I see that you attended Full Sail, I myself have spent the past few years studying 3D animation as well. Good luck with your work in that field. I hope you will continue to help make Wikipedia a better place! EvilPhoenix
