[edit] Template documentation

This template is meant for use in long deletion discussions, as a kind of "Cliff's Notes" version for those who don't necessarily want to read through the entire text.

It contains a summary of the arguments presented on each side.

[edit] Care

As it's meant to recap both sides of the longest and most heated debates, this template is extremely prone to bias.

If you take it upon yourself to post a recap, you should take extra-sensitive care in summing up the arguments in a completely neutral way. Don't word your opponents' arguments so that they sound less valid, and conversely, don't use wording that raises your side's arguments above the other's by default.

All argument summaries should purely summarize the existing arguments presented in the Delete and Keep !votes that have already been posted. Do not, under any circumstances, post original thoughts or rebuttals in a recap.

These summaries are not permanent. Anyone can change them at any time. Any lack of objectivity in your original posting will only end up in others editing it, and possibly starting a edit war.

If you don't feel you can do this, it's best to leave the recap out, or request that another editor post it. Recaps are not a right or a requirement; but when they can be peacefully implemented, they can be helpful.

If at any point the posting of this template results in edit warring over its contents, the entire template should be removed immediately from the discussion.

[edit] Placement

Place at the bottom of the deletion discussion, inside a new level-5 header (===== =====). Always add a signature following placement of this template, by typing four tildes (~~~~).

This template should only be posted in long deletion discussions. A discussion that contains multiple arbitrary breaks is usually a good candidate.

[edit] Parameters

  • days = Number of days passed / included in the recap (default = 5)
  • da# = Argument for Delete
  • ka# = Argument for Keep
  • comment = Additional miscellaneous comments
