This item (* "People with chronic hepatitis C (or other forms of chronic hepatitis infection) who drink heavily have poorer health outcomes than those who drink less."[1][2]) is about the consequences of drinking heavily, not about sensible drinking guidelines.MikeMD 00:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)— MikeMD (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
This item (* "People who choose not to drink alcohol should not be urged to drink to gain any potential health benefit, and should be supported in their decision not to drink. … Non-drinkers can use other strategies, such as regular exercise, giving up smoking, and a healthy diet, to gain protection against heart disease."([1], p17) about being a good friend or host, not about sensible drinking guidelines.MikeMD 01:03, 27 July 2006 (UTC)— MikeMD (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

[edit] Australian Guidelines altered
The Australian guidelines have just been altered. For men it is now a maximum of two standard drinks a day. For women it is remains two standard drinks a day. For pregnant women it is now no alcohol at all. Teenagers under 15 should not drink at all.
It was reported in the Australian media yesterday, but the online version of the guidelines have not been updated yet. Bricker 21:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've updated the page to take the forthcoming guidelines into account. Spiro Keats (talk) 11:00, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Jeroboambramblejam (talk) 23:55, 2 May 2008 (UTC) There seems to be a contradiction here: "A standard drink is 10g / 12.7 millilitres of alcohol. So in these countries, a standard drink is 30ml of straight spirits,..." "Straight spirits" is usually meant to mean 200 proof ethanol; "...12.7 millilitres of alcohol..." would seem to mean 12.7ml straight spirits rather than 30ml as stated. thanks, jeroboambramblejam —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeroboambramblejam (talk • contribs) 23:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
