[edit] Background

Over the years a number of comics have been recalled for various reasons varying from simple printing errors to stories or images that were deemed inappropriate. The rarest of these is probably the The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen volume 1, issue 5, which was recalled due to a Marvel douche ad (the publication was produced by an offshoot of rival publisher DC comics). Other notable recalls were the Elseworlds 80-Page Giant with the controversial Superman Jr. in a microwave, Wolverine 131 with its accidental racial slur and also Marvel Knight's Elektra issue 3 showing tame nude images of Elektra.
