Talk:Rebound (basketball)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Moved from article since this probably belongs to the Dennis Rodman article rather than the general rebound article, and the referred to "tipping" technique is not original to Rodman:
Dennis Rodman was considered one of the best rebounders in the NBA. He managed to lead the league in rebounding for seven straight seasons despite generally not being one of the tallest or largest players on the court. He made up for his lack of size by "tipping" the ball when rebounding. When the ball was close enough to him to touch, but too far for him to immediately take firm grasp of it, he would use his fingers to attempt to tip the ball in a very controlled fashion--either to himself, into basket for a goal, or to a particular spot on the court where one of his teammates would have the best chance to recover it.

If the player is a center and they haven't averaged at least 10+ rpg then they shouldn't even be considered a notable rebounder. For all other positions the players have to have averaged at least 8+ rpg. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.226.44.138 (talk) 12:54, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Boxing out section
The section on boxing out was merged from a separate page per this AfD discussion. That page now redirects to this one. Xymmax (talk) 15:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
