On November 5th, 2007, Rebeca Gusmão was suspended by FINA due to doping with testosterone in a competition held on July 13th 2007. Suspicion of illegal use of testosterone has increased due to her awesome muscular mass gain along with a supposedly masculine appearance.
On December 13th, 2007, PASO declared Rebeca Gusmão guilty of doping with testosterone and revoked her XV Pan American Games medals.
