[edit] Image:Manning-Fabian.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Manning-Fabian.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 19:33, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] (WikiProject Rock music) I'd welcome your comments
Hi Reaper! I recently joined your project, and am a little bit dissatisfied after seeing how it fares compared to other projects like WikiProject Alternative music. I'd love to see the project flourish, though. To address my concerns and eventually give the project some inertia, I've started a discussion at the Project talk page. Would love to hear your thoughts! Best wishes, Johnnyw talk 13:01, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:April_Wine_-_The_Whole_World's_Goin'_Crazy.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:April_Wine_-_The_Whole_World's_Goin'_Crazy.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:April_Wine_-_Roughly_Speaking.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:April_Wine_-_Roughly_Speaking.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 23:16, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cobain and Novoselic
I've skimmed the book briefly, but it isn't entirely clear. Azerrad says Kurt first noticed Krist in high school; Krist graduated in 1983. Sometime after that they officially met. Kurt and Krist are implied to have started playing together in 1986. WesleyDodds 07:20, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Matthew Good
Sorry. I read it and didn't have time to respond, then blanked the next time I logged in.
NONE of his demos should have Wikipedia articles. They all fail notability guidelines. We can't even justify fair use for the cover art because we can't offer any "critical commentary" as required by Wikipedia guidelines. No publication has ever discussed them - we can't cite any commentary on them. (At the very least, all of the demo articles need to be merged into one article.)
But, specifically - why exclude And in Closing? It's not just Matt asking it not be included - we know nothing about the Rodchester Kings. Nothing. Was it his band? Was it someone else's band, and he was just providing vocals? The only information we have about the band comes from the History Teacher liner notes, which offer no details. (The demo itself might offer some details, but the liner notes aren't available anywhere.) Matt's involvement doesn't give the band enough notability for its own article, and the same applies to the demo (plus the problems mentioned above).
So now we're down to listing it in Matt's discography. The big question: is it actually a release? Do we know that it was actually available publicly, or just something that was made to get shows? If we can't prove that it's a release, we shouldn't include it in his discography.
The only reason that tape and his demos are listed are because we know they exist. Need a precedent for not including them? Eddie Vedder. Vedder was involved with several demos while living in San Diego (most notably with Bad Radio), yet the first release in his Discography is Temple of the Dog.
Last of the Ghetto Astronauts is Good's first actual release. The discography should start there. (However, that doesn't mean we can't mention the demos in the article text.) -- ChrisB 18:33, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- As a pick up from this, my apologies if it has already been mentioned, but the article in question has practically no references or sources... - Just thought I'd mention it if it hasn't been already. ScarianTalk 12:01, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

- Since you're working on Category:Non-standard album infoboxes, in case you're not already aware of this, there is at least one other type that is supported but is undocumented: Double album. I was planning to add that to Template:Infobox Album/doc/type once I figure out how to fix some formatting issues with that template. --PEJL 04:20, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:Orig Crisis 300RGB.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Orig Crisis 300RGB.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:34, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Citations
The type of citation method you use is irrelevant as long as you are consistent with its usage throughout the article and list the appropriate information (ie. Author, title, date, date accessed, etc.). In short, you aren't obligated to use the "cite" templates whatsoever. It's just a handy tool, but only if you've got the hang of it (I still have problems using it myself). WesleyDodds 05:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Listen
The reason I reverted the bot's addition of interwiki links is because interwikis, a part of the 'documentation', belong at Template:Listen/doc and not Template:Listen. In any case, the bot had failed to use the <noinclude></noinclude> and as a result the template's interwikis were appearing on every article in which the template:Listen is transcluded.- Gilliam 19:04, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi there! I noticed you were involved in recent discussions regarding the above notion. Well, a poll has been initiated regarding this. Please weigh in. Thanks! Quizimodo 13:06, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hey there; care to weigh in? If so or not, thanks for your consideration. Quizimodo 15:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for weighing in -- I appreciate it. As well, would you be able to comment and indicate support/opposition to the above poll specifically? I would encourage you to read it fully beforehand. Thanks! Quizimodo 18:40, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi there -- thanks for commenting. However, I just wanted to clarify one thing: this entire (and lengthy) poll/discussion concerns the current reference in the 4th sentence of 2nd paragraph: "....In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada became a federal dominion...." Some believe this is necessary to clarify the change in governance/structure brought about by Confederation in 1867 (Province of Canada before, federal dominion after). AFAIK, there is no proposal currently (nor would I support any) to change the first sentence of the article: "Canada is a country ..." I hope this helps, and I hope you'll refactor your assertions/comments on the talk page appropriately. Thanks for your efforts! Quizimodo 11:03, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. The second poll recently (where you retained your vote 'Support 1') was initiated after an earlier poll, which was started on a confusing and faulty premise. Anyhow, thanks again! Quizimodo 19:21, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

All Music Guide was inconclusive, but the Billboard.com article cited in the article says the title is in fact Y34RZ3R0R3MIX3D. Technically there's nothing stylized about it (like the backward "R" in Korn), so for now that does seem like the official title. WesleyDodds 22:44, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

I was not feeding the trolls in any way. That IP is not trolling! Please don't remove people's talk page comments without a legit reason. An IP user such as that one will more than likely not check out the archives, so I said it in a nutshell. Replying with "!!!" is more like feeding the trolls than directing the user to a useful page.. thanks. Jack?! 23:02, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Seriously Reaper - removing that comment wasn't cool. I don't think he was feeding but even if he was, you should not be taking the liberties of modifying nor removing others' comments. Article discussion pages should really only be modified in cases of violating BLP or obvious vandalism. Even heated and insane discussion are rarely modified as many users believe talk should be preserved no matter what is said. Also, on a personal level, if someone removed my comment, I think I might be a bit offended because it's not like reverting another's edits, it's like telling someone what they said doesn't matter and does not need to be viewed. the_undertow talk 23:32, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
