The Platinum Collection is an unofficial compilation by British pop / dance act D:Ream. The album was indeed released without the band's permission, in July 2006, by WEA Records, for the famous series of the same name, gathering a lot of groups and artists in its vast catalogue. The only collection officially acknowledged by Peter Cunnah and Al Mackenzie's D:Ream is The Best of D:Ream, which was issued in 1997, by Magnet Records label, distributed by Warner Music major, and managed by FXU Management, following the second re-release of their UK Number One hit, "Things Can Only Get Better", which was adopted by the UK Labour Party as their theme, during the 1997 UK General Election - the song reached Number 19 on that occasion (its first release ever, back in 1993, had got to Number 24). The Platinum Collection, though being unofficial, presents at leasts two tracks of interest: "U R The Best Thing" (Perfecto Radio Mix) and "Take Me Away" (Brothers in Rhythm Radio Edit) - these are a couple of alternative radio versions, which were originally included on the single releases of the songs, respectively performed by DJ Perfecto and Brothers in Rhythm. The rest of the album more or less reproposes the same track listing as the band's official greatest hits collection, consisting in all the singles from their only two albums, the 7 ones off 1993 D:Ream On Volume 1, and the 3 out of 1995 World (both Top 5 in the UK Albums Chart), plus a couple of stand-out tracks from either, including "Glorious" and "So Long Movin' On" off the former, and "Hold Me Now" and "Heart of Gold" out the latter.
