[edit] Existence
Although this game sounds vaguely familiar, I find it odd that a brief Google search cannot turn up a single solid reference to it ... can someone lend a hand and locate at least a partial reference to its existence? (File this under: notability) D. Brodale 01:22, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- The two online references are here:
- Along with my testimony of its existence along with the others that already contributed to this page.
- Thanks again for cleaning up this information and trying to keep it accurate. I'm hoping that others can help fill in the gaps in our memories and collections.

[edit] Notable Quotations
I removed the following "Notable quotations" block from the main article, as I don't see how they're all that notable for either the game, the larger genre, or videogaming in general. If someone can cite notability, feel free to add back to the main article.
(begin snip)
When the character was attacked, a probabilistic routine determined the outcome, described in an all-text intermezzo.
The lucky outcome, after the protagonist passed out from injuries, read:
A kindly old gnome found you and nursed you back to health. Press enter to continue... |
The unlucky result read:
The kindly old gnome found you but figured you were too stupid to live so he fed you to N A U G A . . . Game over. Play again? [Y/N] |

[edit] Thanks
Mr. Brodale, thanks for all of your work in helping me clean this up, and I apologize for the earlier lack of references and my assertions that it might have been important to the evolution of other roguelike games like NetHack. Hopefully through the emails that I've sent to coco user lists, the 3-4 people so far that have acknowledged the game (including myself) have produced sufficient references of its existence. Again, I appreciate your work to make sure that the articles I've helped write conform to guidelines. I'm a little new to Wikipedia and have very little to my name, but I think it is an important thing to all record what we can for future generations.
Take care, Gary
- Gary, it's good that you have interest in salvaging this article, and I hope it bears fruits. I have personal concern that posts to a mailing list may not qualify as suitable resources for independent verification. I understand that you're looking for as much assistance as possible (believe me, I tried finding solid references to Nauga on Google prior to its quick removal, and couldn't find any), and I only hope that your requests lead to something tangible to anchor this article. The CoCo in general seems to be in need of help on Wikipedia. D. Brodale 02:37, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks! I'm waiting to hear back from Steve Ostrom who has a soft copy of it. If you will add some way of contacting you directly (email address, etc.), I will send you that verification of it. I'm also saddened that they best I could manage so far is response to my emails on that coco mailing list along with other's testimony on this page. It is very difficult getting access to information that is close to 30 years old for a computer that very few still use, but to me I enjoy the challenge to prove this information, so I thank you.
