'Realengo' is a neighborhood located at the West Zone (Zona Oeste) of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This neighborhood lies between the White Rock Forest (Floresta da Pedra Branca) and Mendanha's mountain range (Serra do Mendanha) and it has one of the most hot temperatures on summer in the city.
On 14 may 2008, in this neibourhood , three journalist from a brasilian newspaper, "O Dia", were captured by militia desguised as police and were tortured for 5 hours. The methodes of tortures includede electric shoks, plastic bags putted on there heads and cruel beating. The journalist were investigated the local mafia who captured the alcohool industry. [1]
