"Ready, Set, Don't Go" is a country music song from 2007 by Billy Ray Cyrus, first available on iTunes, and the CD Home at Last. The single is Cyrus' first chart entry on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts since "The Other Side" in 2003, as well as his first Top 5 entry since 1999's "Busy Man" which peaked at #3. [1] It is also his second-ever Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, the other one being 1992's "Achy Breaky Heart", which peaked at #4.
Originally recorded as a solo song, "Ready, Set, Don't Go" was re-released in October of 2007 as a duet with Cyrus' daughter Miley Cyrus. Upon the release of the duet version, the song saw a significant increase in airplay.

The music video for the song was directed by Elliot Lester. It has Billy Ray sitting on a couple suitcases playing his guitar and singing the song, with older home videos back when his daughter Miley was a baby, and when she was growing up, along with a few clips of their show Hannah Montana. The video debuted in July on CMT's Top 20 Countdown.
The song was first heard partially on an episode of Hannah Montana.
In 2008, "Ready, Set, Don't Go" was nominated in the new category for "Tearjerker Video of the Year" for the 2008 CMT Music Awards. Along with Cyrus, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, and Kellie Pickler are also in the run for the Tearjerker Video of the Year.[2]

Billy Ray and Miley debuted the duet version of on the October 9, 2007 episode on the ABC series Dancing with the Stars. After the performance, the song had increased in airplay at radio. It jumped up on Hot Country Songs chart from #47 to #33, making it Billy Ray's return to the Top 40 on the country chart, and Miley's first Top 40 single as herself. Since the re-release, Billy Ray and Miley have performed the song on other TV shows, such as the Oprah Winfrey Show, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
The song hit the Top 5 in February 2008, making it Billy Ray's first Top 5 since 1999.

"Ready, Set, Don't Go" debuted at #47 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. After moving down the charts for a few weeks, the single rebounded with the release of the duet version. (The solo and duet versions are counted as the same song when the Billboard charts are tabulated.)
The song entered Top 40 on the Hot Country Songs charts on the chart week of October 27, 2007, when it moved up from #47 to #33. As a result, it became Billy Ray's first Top 40 hit on the country charts since 2000's "You Won't Be Lonely Now". On the chart week of February 1, 2008, it entered Top 5 on the country singles charts, becoming Billy Ray's fifth Top 5 country hit (and his first since "Busy Man" in late 1998-early 1999). In addition, the song has become Miley's first Top 5 hit on any Billboard singles chart.
