[edit] User:Rcktmanil/Feast of Fools (podcast) (draft)
I userfied the Feast of Fools (podcast) article to User:Rcktmanil/Feast of Fools (podcast) (draft) per this request. -- Jreferee t/c 20:29, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Some comments: (1) Wikipedia articles should only be composed of material from sources that are independent of the topic. You may want to remove any information that is sourced to feastoffools.net. Also, you may want to remove unsource information from the article. Every sentence should have a footnote (except for the lead paragraph). (2) Redo the footnotes to look like the ones I posted. (3) Put everything in prose and position the information chronologically in order. For example, Awards, Honors and Nominations should also be chronologically worked into the topic's history as should Celebrity Guests. -- Jreferee t/c 14:39, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- The draft article is looking good and seems ready to be moved to Wikipedia space. If you want that done, please let me know. Also, the footnotes go outside of the period and comma, not inside. -- Jreferee t/c 17:23, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I believe we are ready to go. If you see anything glaring that needs to be fixed let me know.
Also, I have a few final questions:
-
- I joined that podcasting group you recommended. Should I add the group's logo to the bottom of my page?
- Is there any way at all to change the name of the page from Feast of Fools (podcast) to Feast of Fools Podcast? If it's too much trouble, we'll leave it as it is.
- Also, if a user types "Feast of Fools" in the Search box, it brings them to the Feast of Fools medieval festival page by default, then they would have to click on the redirect link at the top to bring them to the Podcast page. How does it work to bring up a disambiguation page first?
Thanks again for all your help! RcktManChgo 18:05, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reply
- Each sentence should be in chronological order. For example, you have "Feast of Fools" Name in its own subsection, but it would read better if that information apeared chronologically of when they first used the name. The article talks about "In 1996, his solo performance work ..." then talks about "program won "Best Cable Access Show" by the Austin Chronicle in 1995." I would delete the sections: Podcasting Pioneer, Show Hosts and Regular Guests, and Meet and Greet Events since they are lists and this is an article, not a list. Plus, the information lacks independent reliable source references. I would work the Awards, Honors and Nominations information in the main text to appear chronologically. That will give the readers a sense of their growth and improvement. I would get rid of the external links that are not appropriate, e.g., The Feast of Fools photos on Flickr.com, Pictures from the live show, and Pictures of live recording at a bar in Chicago. Unless its a website maintained by The Feast of Fools, you should not link to it. I would delete the Links to Notable Guest Interviews section. People can go to The Feast of Fools website and look that up. Also, unless you have an independent reliable source remarking on the interview, information about that interview should not be in the Wikipedia article. The format of references 12 and 13 need to be fixed. The key to writing wikipedia articles is to let the independent reliable source material write it for you. If they say it, include it. If they don't say it, then no one else wants to read about it and you should not include it.
- Most people know the show as Feast of Fools (podcast) so I don't think Feast of Fools Podcast would be a good title. Also, the article include more information than just about their podcast.
- After obtaining consensus, we can move the Feast of Fools article to Feast of Fools (celebration) and create a Feast of Fools disambiguation page using entries such as from onelook.com
- I added the group's logo to your user page.

[edit] Feast of Fools (podcast)
Hi Rcktmanil. You are off to such a great start on the article Feast of Fools (podcast) that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. Also, don't forget to keep checking back at Did you know suggestions for comments regarding your nomination. Again, great job on the article. -- Jreferee t/c 02:12, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Podcasting
Hi Rcktmanil, I noticed you were on the list as a member of WikiProject Podcasting! 2008 brings new updates to the project, such as Wikipedia 1.0 article assessment ratings, and new podcast infoboxes editors are working on.
In order to help us know who is working on writing, sourcing, rating articles, and in general helping out the project, I encourage you to check out the WP:PODCAST main page and move your name into the 2008 members list. If you'd like to still be part, but have a more indirect involvement on the project, feel free to leave your name on the former members list. Of course, if you're too busy with other commitments and wish to leave the project, simply remove your name. We'll sure miss you though! :)
The year ahead we would like to focus our energy on not only improving articles, but also provide WP:RS reliable sources to ensure each article meets WP:V verifiability.
All the best and happy podcasting. --Breno talk 10:12, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
