Razdaz

I'm Razdaz. I joined on August 10th, 2007, to write articles. I'm a teenaged fiction writer who typically writes novels for young adults, but I like to be realistic when I'm going through a writer's block. For more about my books, see my section below.

CMB, (Colerain High School's Cardinal Marching Band.)

Every year, the Colerain High School band directors travel to the middle schools in North West Local School District to scout potential marching band members. A select few students are invited to join the high schoolers from the middle schools, and only a few of the small number of kids choose to join the band. I was selected last year, and I joined. Marching band is great so far; I've met a lot of people and I've really improved in the first two weeks. I really can't wait for the first football game. My friends say I'm a geek for doing it; but my mom was a chaperone at the camp, and she said that she has a new-found respect for marching bands. For those who still think it's geeky, here is the true story. Anyone who has been a member of a marching band will back me up. Marchers don't get the respect because the organization is seen as a nerdy one, but it is just as strenuous as any sport. At camp, we started practice at six fifteen and we didn't stop until nine/nine thirty. We took an hour for each meal, and we had a three-hour break between three thirty and our next practice. Not even the football team practices this long. . Another aspect of marching is that it is so precise. I can't count the number of times my instructors have said, "You're one step off the fifty yard line, move over." In order to join, you need to have a good memory. You need to memorize your music, plus the drill routine. You need to know how many steps to take in each direction, the order they go in, and also timing, step size, and positioning. Not to mention, you have to remember the correct ways to march. You have to have a certain dedication for music to join the marching band, or you aren't going to love it. And if you're involved in other sports between July and November, then you can't do marching band; Forget it. . It is really demanding, and we have four hour practices at least twice a week.

Books.

I've always loved writing, but it wasn't until the year I entered seventh grade that I, "Found my groove." I realized that I can actually write fiction. I have written a series of two books, (one is trying to get published and it's sequel is waiting,) and I have written several books completely different. Most of my books are just beginning chapters that are only a few pages long, but if I'm stuck, I can move to another book. I'm going to try working on a realistic book again, now that I am a better writer. Yes, it is going to have something to do with marching band.

The series I have written is about a boy who discovers that he is a, "messenger," and that he serves the king of his kingdom. But he quickly figurs out that the darkness, (which earns it's true name in book 2,) is trying to kill him. So he sets of on his first assignment and learns what he is supposed to do. He completes the quest, and learns at the end that he is king because the king made him his heir. The unsolved mysteries carry over into book 2 and book 3, (which I am working on.) I let some of my friends read it recently, just to make sure that I didn't copy Harry Potter or Eragon, which I love. I was pretty confident, but I wanted to be sure. Luckily, they agreed with me that it was original. More Information Will Be Added as the Books Develope.

Parities.

A new addition to my list of... things I do, is writing parities. Deffinitly influenced by the stylings of "Weird" Al and others, I have written several parities. I started with a subject I know well, (Harry Potter.) Harry and modern music that I listen to every day didn't really work well, so I resorted to show-tunes. My best I think is a spoof of Defying Gravity from Wicked, re-titled Diagon Alley. Now I can make things up on my own. I have just created BarbieLicious, to the tune of Fergalicious. Now I need to get my hands on the background music of Fergalicious and have my sister sing it. I wrote it for her since her nicname is Blondy and she can never live down some of her "Blonde moments." I have also written a spoof called Wake Me Up When This Movie Ends. (Wake Me Up When September Ends.) Dork!!! I know. But it is just something I do when I'm bored or having trouble writing and it can actually turn out quite funny.

 Me.

I live in Cincinnati Ohio with my family and pets. I go to White Oak Middle School, and I am a member of F.E.A, band, the book club, and several other associations. I am a cadet in girl scouts, though my troop has pretty much shrivvled up and broken apart.

If you read I joined on August 17th, sorry. I was thinking about my sister's birthday party on that day, and I was up late while writing this so I forgot. I'm not a time-warping maniac or anything, I was just tired.
